Colour
An effective design is achieved through the combination of critical elements (see the post below). Colour is an element of art made when a light spectrum hits an object and reflect on our eyes.
How it used Effectively
In graphic design, understanding the colour wheel is vital. It contains analogous colours which exist together on a colour wheel. They can be complementary and opposite to each other or they might be split complementary colours which includes a primary colour and the two colours on both sides of its complement.
The Significance of Colour
colour creates a focal point in addition to organising hierarchies. colour changes the mood of the consumers and how they perceive the product. We all subconsciously assign a certain feeling for every colour. Furthermore, colour can arouse multiple emotions and reactions, for example:
Red Induces passion, power, joy, leadership, vigour and activeness.
Black: Powerful, functionality, mysterious, elegance and sophisticated.
Yellow: Optimism, Childlike, law, education, freshness, and arrogance.
Green: Natural, healing /health, calm, generosity, trees, wealth, money, endurance, and protection.
Blue: security, wisdom, confidence, loyalty, trust.
After doing this research, I have realised the importance of colour within designs and my next step will be to analyse LGBTQ inspired products and the use of the colours within the design, eventually leading to me creating a colour scheme for my products.
