Pride Logo: Critical Analysis

The purpose of this product is to inform the audience of an upcoming event. The information presented in this logo is that it takes place in Huddersfield and it's a Pride event for the LGBTQ community. This is represented by the 'Huddersfield' text and 'PRIDE' text along with the colours of the pride flag. I think the layers of colour behind the pride text and the retro aesthetic is the best aspect of this product.

The edges need smoothing down because they're jagged and the 'Huddersfield' needs to be centred in the middle because it's on leaning towards the left more.

After analysing my results from my design survey, I experimented with different fonts for the 'Huddersfield' text to make it fit into the art deco style and created another questionnaire for the audience to pick one that appealed to them the most. They ended up picking the one above even though it's a completely different design style.

In the future, I will do this differently by sending out the design survey first and then creating the products in the chosen style, rather than making the logo first and then making the audience choose which design style appeals to them.

For now, I will have to neaten up the logo and make it work with the chosen design style.

Update:

I have neatened up the edges by smoothing them down and moved the 'Huddersfield in front of the 'PRIDE' to emphasize the location more because the 'PRIDE' text doesn't need to stand out any more than it already does.

I have learned a lot during this process, such as the importance of positioning, colour and feedback. If it wasn't for the feedback given, I wouldn't have ended up with a logo that attracts the audience. I have also learned the importance of paying attention to detail because I didn't notice the choppy edges until a peer pointed them out.
